1.) Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)

This global hit was the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Written and performed by Shakira, it blends African rhythms with pop energy and celebrates unity and football spirit. It became one of the most successful World Cup songs ever released. I imagine most of your class will already know this one!

2.) Wavin’ Flag

Originally written by Somali-Canadian artist K’naan, Wavin’ Flag was remixed into the Coca-Cola World Cup anthem for 2010. Its uplifting message of freedom and resilience made it a worldwide football favourite during the tournament.

3.) We Are One (Ole Ola)

This was the official song of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Written by Pitbull and featuring Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte and Jennifer Lopez, it celebrated Brazilian culture, carnival energy, and global unity through football.

4.) Three Lions

Originally released for Euro ’96 in England, this song became an unofficial football anthem for England fans. It was famously revived during the 2018 World Cup, topping charts again thanks to its nostalgic lyrics about “football coming home.”

5.) Dreamers

Performed by Jungkook of BTS, Dreamers was one of the official songs for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. It blends K-pop with global influences and celebrates dreaming big on the world’s biggest football stage.

6.) Champions

This track isn’t an official World Cup song, but was released a few days ago by YouTuber iShowSpeed. Along with this, and his previous song 'World Cup', iShowSpeed is heavily associated with Ghana and football culture through social media hype and fan energy.

7.) Un’Estate Italiana

This was the official song of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. It captures the emotion of Italian football in a nostalgic, melodic style and remains one of the most loved World Cup songs in history.

8.) Magic in the Air

Although not an official World Cup song, this track became a massive football anthem across Europe and Africa. It’s often played at tournaments and celebrations due to its joyful, chant-like chorus and uplifting energy, used by France in the 2018 World Cup.

We hope these songs help keep the celebration of football going through June and July. It's always a special occasion when countries are united together! Don't forget to download and display your FREE A3 Poster below!
